This Privacy Policy describes how WonderTrip (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories, depending on how you use the App:
2.1 Account and authentication
If you create an account or sign in, we process identifiers and profile details needed to operate the service, such as your email address, authentication tokens, display name where you provide it, and sign-in method (for example, email/password or Google Sign-In, where available). This processing is handled through Firebase Authentication and related Google Cloud infrastructure.
2.2 Location data
We collect location information when you grant permission. Depending on your device settings, this may include approximate or precise location while the App is in use.
We use location data to:
- Mystery Box feature: to determine when you are in range of map-based Mystery Box experiences and to unlock or present related in-app content.
- Navigation and maps: to show your position on the map, compute routes, and support real-time navigation and route guidance during trips.
- Nearby and trip features: to power place search, routing, and trip-related experiences tied to geographic context.
You can disable location access in your device settings; some features will not work without it. We do not use location for advertising personalization beyond what is described here and in your platform settings.
2.3 Maps, search, and routing
The App integrates Mapbox (and related location APIs) for maps, search, and directions. When you search for places or view routes, queries and map interactions may be processed by Mapbox (and, where applicable, other providers you trigger, such as opening external maps). Their use of data is governed by their respective policies.
2.4 Trip and activity data
When you plan or complete trips, we may store trip-related information associated with your account in our backend (for example, Firestore), such as routes, stops, progress, or journal-style records you create in the App. This allows features like history, levels, and continuity across sessions.
2.5 Profile and media
If you customize your profile (for example, avatar selection) or upload media, we may store that information in Firebase services (including Cloud Storage where applicable). Features that use the device camera only capture images or video when you actively use those features and grant camera permission.
2.6 AI-assisted suggestions
Certain planning or inspiration features may send limited contextual information (such as destination area and preferences you choose in the App) to AI service providers to generate suggestions. We do not use this to train public models on your behalf; processing is subject to the provider’s terms and our operational safeguards.
2.7 Device, connectivity, and security
We collect technical information needed to run the App securely and reliably, such as device or app identifiers, network connectivity, and diagnostics typical of mobile apps. We use Firebase App Check and related mechanisms to help protect our backend from abuse.
2.8 Sponsored or merchant content
The App may display third-party or sponsored locations retrieved from our servers (for example, merchant-related listings). We process related data as needed to show that content and operate the feature.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features;
- Authenticate users and secure accounts;
- Deliver location-based features, including Mystery Box and navigation;
- Store your preferences, trips, and profile data;
- Communicate with you about support or important notices when appropriate;
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
If laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on appropriate bases including performance of a contract, legitimate interests (security and product improvement), and consent where required (for example, location or certain optional features).
5. Sharing of information
We do not share your personal information with third parties. We do not sell your personal information for money as a “sale” under U.S. state privacy laws.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us (subject to legal exceptions).
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards for data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we strive to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact wondertripai@gmail.com to exercise these rights. You may also control location and camera permissions in your device settings.
11. Third-party links and services
The App may link to third-party sites or open other apps (for example, maps). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, where permitted by law.
